Continuing to drive EV investment

Written by Emma Harvey on 26th January 2021

VMS Vehicle Hire are adding yet more electric vehicles to their hire fleet stock. Taking a step away from the usual, and following the success of previous customer orders, the business has added two all-electric vehicles, an EV80 Tipper and EV80 Dropside to their hire fleet.

Taking its roots from the UK-built LDV Maxus from the early 2000’s, the Maxus LDV EV80 replaces the traditional V80 diesel engine with an electric motor and battery pack, fully chargeable in 2 hours. With an 123bhp electric motor and 56kW lithium-ion battery, the EV80 has a single-speed automatic gear box with a range of up to 119 miles, depending on payload and ambient temperature.

The 1x 4m dropside, single cab, has a payload of 925kg, while the 1x 3.4m King Tipper, single cab, has a payload 825kg.

Continuing the drive forward on the electric journey, VMS are adding to their existing EV fleet ranging from SWB Panel Vans and SWB Fridge Vans (Renault Kangoo), MWB Panel Van (LDV EV80’s), Renault Master Trafic Management, Low Loader, Welfare spec vehicles and Tesla’s.

Striving to meet the customer demand for change and increasing desire to transition to EV fleets, all of the VMS electric vehicles are fitted with Geotab telematic systems, which provide data analysis for businesses to utilise when looking at the viability of adding electric vehicles to their long-term rental fleet.

VMS Vehicle Hire are regularly adding to their electric fleet, helping customers make the transition to become more sustainable and working towards the latest government targets. For more information on our range of options and how we can meet client specifications, get in touch!
